(1899) South African-American virologist and doctor Max Theiler was born. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for creating a vaccine for yellow fever.

(1929) Canadian physician and pediatric surgeon Lucille Teasdale-Corti was born. She is remembered for dedicating her life to her patients and improving the medical services offered in northern Uganda.

(1949) American physician and molecular biologist Peter Agre was born. He shared the 2003 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discovery of aquaporin water channels, which as responsible for moving water through a cell’s membrane.
