(1) (1749) English physician, scientist, and “Father of Immunology” Edward Jenner was born. He is known as the pioneer of the smallpox vaccine, the world’s first vaccine.
(2) (1821) Bavarian priest and a forefather of naturopathy Sebastian Kneipp was born. He is associated with the “Kneipp Cure” of hydrotherapy, using water at different temperatures and pressures for healing effects.
(3) (1895) Israeli expert on parasitology Saul Adler is born. He is known for helping find the cure for malaria and bringing 3 hamsters from Syria which were ancestors to every domestic hamster that exists today.
