(1860) American psychologist James McKeen Cattell is born. He is remembered for being an editor of the journal Science, and popularizing the field of psychology. He also performed mental tests which measured human memory span and reaction time.

(1880) French neurologist Jean Alexandre Barré is born. Along with Georges Guillain, he identified the Guillain-Barré syndrome.

(2015) American medical doctor Wallace Sampson passes away. He is best known for being a consumer advocate and exposing fraudulent claims and schemes in the medical field.
