(1) (1753) American physician, politician, and statesman William Eustis was born. He was a military surgeon during the American Revolutionary War, performing surgery on soldiers.

(2) (1858) Scottish botanist and palaeobotanist Robert Brown was born. He is known for having one of the earliest detailed descriptions of a number of cell components and for his work on plant fertilization.

(3) (1977) Italian clinical pathologist Enzo Emanuele was born. He is known for his work on social relationships. He has researched the role of dopamine and serotonin in different love traits.
