(1) (1878) Polish-Jewish educator, children’s author, and pediatrician Janusz Korczak is born. He spent many years working as the director and pediatrician to a child’s orphanage, focusing on children’s health.
(2) (1888) Jewish-American inventor, biochemist and microbiologist is born. He discovered over twenty antibiotics and also coined the word antibiotic.
(3) (1945) British researcher and academic Philip Cohen is born. He has written over 470 peer-reviewed papers, many of which focus on understanding of the role of protein phosphorylation in cell regulation.
