(1) (1926) American physicist and biologist George Irving Bell is born. Along with his contributions to nuclear reactors, he was also involved with the Human Genome Project.
(2) (1951) British geneticist Peter Goodfellow is born. He is best known for his work in sex determination.
(3) (1977) English electrophysiologist Edgar Adrian passes away. He shared the 1932 Nobel Prize for Physiology for his work on neuronal function.
