August 10:

(1) (1814) German-born Swiss confectioner Henri Nestlé is born. Along with founding Nestle, the biggest food and beverage company, he is also credited for developing infant formula.

(2) (1900) New Zealand physician and statesman Arthur Porritt is born. Along with being the Governor-General of New Zealand, he was also a war surgeon during WWII.

(3) (1902) Swedish biochemist Arne Tiselius is born. He won the 1948 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research on electrophoresis (movement of charged particles in a fluid) of proteins.
