I’m looking forward to being a part of the SALMON team. After many years working in health and retirement communities in various positions, including Resident engagement, administration, and leadership roles, I’m excited to bring my extensive knowledge to the Natick campus. I have a passion for working with seniors and look forward to getting to know the Residents and staff members of this great community.
Ed Guy
Director of Sales
Twenty years ago, I suddenly found myself as a caregiver to my mother, who had a terminal disease and vascular dementia. Shortly after she passed away, I started working at an assisted living community and have spent the past fifteen years helping families as they work through the process of choosing an assisted living community. Having worked for some larger national and regional companies, I am thrilled to be working for SALMON, a family-owned company with a reputation for providing excellence.
Karen MacDonald
Director of Business Development
After many years of experience in the hospitality industry, I was ready to build strong relationships in another field, one that was dedicated to helping individuals find their forever homes. I love the challenge of having new tasks each day and I’m looking forward to continuing to meet new people and get to know Residents on a personal level.
Yes, as a Resident, you may elect to keep your primary care physician and any other doctors you have or begin a new relationship with a local physician or specialist; it’s entirely up to you.
What is Tapestry Program for Memory Care?
The Whitney Place Tapestry Program, offered at our Natick, Northborough, Sharon and Westborough locations, is an innovative program for seniors living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. The program is designed to help those with memory impairment live life to the very fullest by minimizing its impact from day to day.
What is the difference between assisted living and a skilled nursing center?
Assisted living gives Residents a little help with their daily routines, while they maintain their personal independence and social interactions.
Skilled nursing centers (nursing homes) give Residents with long-term medical needs 24-hour care in a home-like environment, and recreation as their abilities allow.
Are there visiting hours? May I have overnight guests?
There are no visiting hours; Whitney Place is home to our Residents. You’re welcome to have guests visit whenever you’d like, including overnight in your apartment.
Is there a nurse on call overnight?
Yes, there is a nurse on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What’s my financial obligation when I sign a lease? What’s the notice period if I want to move out?
At the time of lease signing, you are responsible for your first month’s rent (pro-rated to the day of the month you join us), last month’s rent and our one-time assessment fee. Our notice period is 30 days, which may be given at any point during the month.
Do you have PT/OT/SLP/Hospice on-site?
Yes, we have a full range of services available on-site at our locations.
How much does it cost?
Our all-inclusive pricing is listed here on our website; you’ll find our starting at pricing with our floor plans section. We also offer what we call “Peace of Mind” pricing. Please contact us for more information.
What types of dementia care training is provided to staff?
Our team receives training well beyond state requirements for this specialized care. During their orientation, all assisted living staff are introduced to our Tapestry Program’s methods and facets.
Those caring directly for Tapestry Residents receive additional training annually, with strong emphasis on communication skills. They learn best practices, supporting Residents individually and in group situations through the introduction of familiar items for memories and a calming influence; Vigorous Mind intellectual games; daily exercises; focusing on Resident interests; and much more.
With a range of apartment styles, including studio, one-bedroom and companion suites, you’ll find a place that feels like home.
Each beautifully appointed apartment comes with a private bath, wall-to-wall carpeting, kitchenette with microwave and a 24-hour emergency response system. Relax knowing your housekeeping and linen services are included. Adding your furniture and favorite accessories will make it your own.
SALMON Health and Retirement’s senior living and healthcare options address older adults at different stages of their lives, from when they’re completely independent to meeting the needs they may require as they age. That results in a continuum of care.
Our range of services includes retirement communities for active adults, assisted living residences, specialized assisted living with memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers, home and hospice care.
The inspiration to deliver a healthier, richer life for those we serve runs three generations deep in our family and is something we believe our entire team strives for every day. That’s because founder Helen Salmon, a nurse who instilled compassion and responsibility, set our standard when she said we needed to serve others “just like family.”
Following Helen’s lead, people on the SALMON team have a habit of pitching in, working together to create the best experience for those we serve, and each other.
We have remained family owned and operated since our founding in 1952 by Helen and Daniel Salmon, Sr. When their son Danny, Jr., and his wife Dorothy took the reins in the 1960s, they began building and expanding the scope of services. Today, third-generation family members Matt and Andrew Salmon are actively involved in the daily operations of the organization’s campuses.
Throughout the years, the Salmons have brought an unwavering commitment to excellence and a genuine concern and respect for each individual.
